ButterMeBabe is BACK! … and we MOVED! Essentially the “business” never went anywhere. I still was processing orders and I am still taking orders. However, I took a break from social media to focus on relocating, moving, transitioning my mind and spirit, and being present for my son while he did a 3 month, food therapy program in Atlanta.
I ended up having to relocate to Atlanta permanently after the food therapy program and the process was ALOT!. I had to get my son into school, he is autistic and nonverbal, so I had to get all his records, medical records, IEP, doctors, therapies, and everything else under the sun transferred from Memphis which truly has been a labor of love for a greater outcome.
Memphis was good to me when I was there, but life and circumstances has literally pushed my son and I to Atlanta and here we are!
ButterMeBabe started as Whip Appeal Beauty, which I rebranded to Yaaganix Naturals when I changed the packaging, and then I switched the name to ButterMeBabe once I learned a lot more about marketing, customer perceptions, and market research. Basically, people remember the name “ButterMeBabe” easier than Yaaganix Naturals. It was also very difficult to say Yaaganix so I went through some changes and I am happy to be at a place where I am confident in the name and products to prepare for consistent and major growth.
I am now back active on social media and in executing in building our growth through daily content creation.
Another update! The product containers have changed!
So my American supplier for my product containers, I believe, may have been getting the containers from China, because they went up on my containers and the cost for the engraving on the bamboo container tops exponentially to the point that I would have no other choice but to raise the cost for for my body butters and scrubs by $3.50-4 if I wanted to get them from that specific supplier. Also, there aren’t too many American product container suppliers that sell bamboo tops and do engravings affordably at wholesale costs; so my options are very limited if I want to stick with an American product container supplier.
A $4 increase is too large a price jump and I refuse to do that to my long time customers and future customers in an economy that’s battling inflation and the range of those living check to check is consistently rising.
So in the time I was away, I did a lot of research on American suppliers and was ordering samples left and right to see how they looked. I also want to mention that the cost for the raw ingredients I need for my products have increased as well. So I am truly struggling to keep my body butters at the same price they’ve been since 2019, when I first started.
All in all, I made the decision to go with a solid white container and a bamboo plastic top to keep the cost of my products the same. It’s a much cheaper option. I had to adjust the labels on the body butters, but the container looks pretty good and professional.
(Keep in mind, I do the labeling and packaging myself)
I am excited for this next stage of ButterMeBabe and the growth.
We are on Tiktokshop and I will be learning this new way of selling with TIktoklive and collaborating with influencers.
