Meet the founder · Candace Renee Rice

Before the business,
there was a mason jar.

In 2016, I made my first honeycomb body butter for a coworker who struggled with itchy skin and marks from scratching. I wanted to create something comforting to use, so I started with store-bought honey and a simple mason jar.

Soon, I was making body butters and scrubs for friends and family looking for extra moisture and care. Some were living with eczema or psoriasis. Listening to their experiences made me want to keep learning, creating, and improving.

In 2019, I used my earnings from MTV to launch Yaaganix Naturals, the business that became ButterMeBabe. Television opened a door, but I wanted to build something that could sustain my family long after my days on screen.

Entertaining is one part of who I am. Being in the kitchen developing products—and hearing how customers feel about their skin—is another part I truly love.

Every batch gives me another opportunity to refine the details: how a butter whips, how it spreads, and how it feels on the skin. I take customer feedback seriously, and I’m always looking for thoughtful ways to make the next jar even better.

01 · Ingredients

Chosen with intention.

I source carefully from small businesses and evaluate raw ingredients before bringing them into a batch. Recent recipe updates include mango butter and beef tallow as I continue refining the richness and feel of my body butters.

02 · Craftsmanship

Hands-on from the start.

I craft in small batches and prepare my own turmeric-infused oil for the bestselling Turmeric + Manuka Honey collection. I also design and print labels in-house. The details are personal because the work is personal.

03 · Improvement

Always being refined.

Texture, spreadability, and the experience of using a product all matter to me. I keep evaluating my formulas and listening to reviews. Improvement is an ongoing part of my craft.

A personal note

A mother. A maker.
A new chapter.

As a solo parent to my son, Maxwell, who is autistic and has significant care needs, I’ve had seasons when motherhood needed more of my time and ButterMeBabe had to take a quieter place.

Today, I’m bringing renewed focus and energy to this business. ButterMeBabe is my livelihood, a way to provide for my family while caring for my son, and work that brings me joy and purpose.

I’m grateful for everyone who has stayed with us—and everyone discovering us for the first time. This next chapter is about continuing to grow, continuing to listen, and bringing that same care to every order.
